Join Us Every Other Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.!

If you are an advertising sales professional in Florida and you sell direct mail, newspaper, magazine, TV, commercial print, radio, digital or specialty advertising products, you are invited to participate in biweekly Zoom meetings hosted by the Florida Media Association. We have created this open and free seminar series to help you increase your – and your customers’ – businesses. If you aren’t currently a member of the association, send your contact information to the Executive Director to be added to the invitation list.

Here’s what we have planned:

October 28 at 4:00 p.m. – Geofencing

What is Geofencing? Do you know the difference between Geofencing and Geotargeting? What are Verticals and Best Practices? Join us to find out!

November 11 at 4:00 p.m. – City Anniversary Milestone

Join us as Val Harring and Ray Eckenrode walk us through the highly successful City Anniversary Milestone book they put together to celebrate the City of Cape Coral’s 50th anniversary. They will take us from concept to completion, including how they successfully monetized the project. You don’t want to miss it!

Here are the topics you've missed:

October 14 – Open Forum

Bring your questions – or, if you don’t have any questions, your best practices and stories to share – or just hang out and network with us.

September 30 – Social Media:  Instagram and Customer Videos

Kelli Carmack and Kennedy Murdock from The Laker/Lutz News gave a presentation on Social Media Campaign Ideas:  How to implement them and create engagement.

September 16 – Local Veterans

Laura Bennett-Kimball from D-R Media shared the workings behind her successful Local Veterans series.

September 4 – Branding Yourself

Justo Rey from The Islander News addresses Branding:  What is it? Why is it important? How does it sell for us?

August 26 – Open Forum

Bring your questions on any topic! We’ll help you find a solution.

August 19 – Videoconferencing

Videoconferencing has become an integral part of our everyday lives. Whether you use Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype or another video collaboration platform, there’s always something new to learn on your chosen platform. Let’s talk about it.

August 5 – Using Your Audit to Make a Sale

Tim Bingaman from Circulation Verification Council will be on hand to discuss how to use your publication’s audit to make a sale. If you want to close more sales, you don’t want to miss this session!

July 29 – Open Forum

This networking call for publishers and sales managers shared feedback on how the Wednesday calls are working for you and your staff.

July 22 – Masked Marketing:  How to Approach New Business in Person While Looking Like a Bank Robber

Jill Kalber of Tampa Bay Newspapers presented, “Masked Marketing: How to Approach New Business in Person While Looking Like a Bank Robber.” How do you project “warm and fuzzy” while wearing a mask? Since we can’t show our smiles, what can we do to win over new advertisers as we walk in the door for the first time? How can we show a personal touch in these days when we all feel so impersonal?

July 15 – No Contract Bundle

Terri Williamson of the Laker/Lutz News presented her idea, a “NO CONTRACT” angle, bundled with another common objection … social media. Advertisers are leery to commit to anything long term, so “NO CONTRACT” takes that fear away. Terri’s idea of combining “NO CONTRACT” with a print buy and social media package is working!

July 8 – Local Readership Survey

Tim Bingaman from CVC taught us how to design a free local survey of our readership. Wouldn’t you like to know EXACTLY what your readers are planning to buy so you can share that documented, verified information with your advertisers?

July 1 – Leveraging Community Engagement

The right engagement equals revenue, if it’s done right! So this week’s call focused on:

  • How do you (your business) engage in the community so that YOU (your business) becomes known as THE local expert?

  • How do you leverage community engagement to produce revenue?

June 24 – LinkedIn Like a Pro

Marc Nudelberg, a former Division 1 college football coach turned entrepreneur, used his relationship building, sales and digital marketing expertise to show us how to modernize several aspects of the sales process in this special session especially for sales reps.

June 17 – Augmenting Audiences

Today, augmenting audiences is extremely important to growing your brand and enhancing results for your advertisers! Do you have your finger on the pulse of your audience? What do they want more of? Or less of? How do you find out? (Download the notes from this meeting here:

June 10 – What are reps hearing in the streets?

Are your sales reps performing at the top of their game in this challenging environment? Do you know what they’re hearing in the streets? If they aren’t performing up to snuff as your business reopens, it’s time to talk about how to help them get there. (Download the notes from this meeting here:
